The Focus is a well-equipped family hatchback that is good to drive and offers assured handling. This smart vehicle is available in a range of trim levels, including Style, Zetec and Titanium.
The Focus comes in a choice of three or five-door iterations, with the latter providing improved access to the rear seats. A number of labour-saving features include electrically operated, heated door mirrors (body-coloured with integrated indicator lights). Estate models feature chrome-finish roof rails, offering extra load-bearing opportunities.
Zetec grades also feature a Quickclear heated windscreen (with six-speed wipers and washer jets), front fog lamps and 16-inch alloy wheels.
A five-person cabin provides adjustable seating for front-row occupants, and the driver also benefits from a rake-and-reach-adjustable steering wheel. Other standard features include power-operated front windows (one-touch on the driver’s side), air conditioning and a front-compartment 12-volt power point. Stowage provision includes centre-console bins, and theminimum boot capacity is 316 litres with all seats up, rising to 1,215 litres (seats folded). Estate variants offer even greater luggage space.
A lumbar-supporting driver’s seat is available with Zetec trims, as is a leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel.
A 1.0-litre 99bhp petrol engine, paired with five-speed manual transmission, delivers up to 61.4mpg and a 105g/km CO2 ¬ emissions figure. Alternatively, a 1.5-litre 93bhp (or 118bhp) diesel unit returns optimal fuel efficiency of as much as 74.3mpg with CO2 emissions as low as 98g/km, and is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Six-speed automatic transmission is available as an option. Ford’s Auto Start-Stop system is featured with each of these engine options, and the manufacturer’s Easy Fuel capless system comes as standard across the range.
The Fiesta features a six-speaker sound system, comprising DAB radio, an AM/FM radio and a CD player. Also included as standard are a 4.2-inch colour display screen, USB and AUX connectivity, Ford SYNC (including Voice Control and Emergency Assistance) and Ford MyKey. Zetec trims feature an eight-inch touchscreen, and add Bluetooth and SD connectivity.
Certified with a five-star rating by Euro NCAP, the Fiesta includes driver aids such as Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control, Emergency Brake Warning, Hill-start Assist and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Passive safety elements include seatbelt reminders, seatbelt pre-tensioners and load-limiters, ISOFIX child-seat mounting and multiple airbags.
