The Grand C-MAX comes with sliding rear doors, providing easy access for second and third-row passengers. The vehicle’s relative lack of boot lip enables straightforward loading too. A number of stylish features include 16-inch alloy wheels and body-coloured elements, such as door handles and door mirrors. The latter are heated and feature integrated side indicators. Further illumination includes front fog lamps, and the vehicle also comes with a heated windscreen, complete with six-speed wipers.
Inside the Grand C-MAX, a number of standard features include power-operated front windows (one-touch on the driver’s side), air conditioning and front and rear 12-volt sockets. Also included is a three-spoke steering wheel and gearshift knob, both leather-trimmed. The former offers tilt-and-telescopic adjustability and power-assisted steering, and the driver further benefits from adjustable, lumbar-supporting seating.
Stowage provision includes a large illuminated glovebox, substantial door bins and centre-console storage. The vehicle’s second row of 40/20/40 seats can be folded, or removed completely. Featuring an auxiliary power socket, the C-MAX’s 448-litre boot capacity can be increased to as much as 1,715 litres with the second and third row of seats folded.
A 1.0-litre 99bhp (or 123bhp) petrol engine delivers up to 54.3mpg and a 119g/km CO2 emissions figure. Both options are paired with six-speed manual transmission (although the latter can be specified with automatic transmission) and come with Auto Start-Stop and Ford’s Easy Fuel capless system.
A six-speaker sound system includes a CD player, DAB radio and an AM/FM radio. Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity is also featured as standard, as is a 4.2-inch colour display that provides access to Ford SYNC (featuring Emergency Assistance) and MyKey.
The Grand C-MAX has been awarded a five-star rating by Euro NCAP, and includes driver aids such as Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock Braking System and Hill-start Assist.
