Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March with much fanfare, the new Focus Red and Black Editions from Ford are due to go on sale later this year. Retaining all of the familiar features from the standard Focus, these sporty variants are fun cars to make everyday journeys a blast.
The striking two-tone exterior of the Black Edition smoulders in Panther Black with contrasting red roof, wing mirrors and rear bumper detailing. Its equal stable-mate, the Red Edition, features sizzling Race Red bodywork set off by black detailing. Styled to be sporty right down to the details, both models feature side skirts, a rear spoiler, sports bumpers and alloy wheels.
Step inside either the Red or Black Edition and the distinctive design continues. Unmistakable build and finish quality is complemented by contrast red stitching on the upholstery, gear stick and steering wheel. Supportive sports seats are supremely comfortable and keep you securely in place however daring your cornering. All of the Red and Black’s design details add up to create the ideal environment from which to enjoy the thrill of driving.
There are likely to be four engine options to choose from; two punchy petrol engines and two efficient diesel alternatives. Ford’s award-winning EcoBoost technology will give the Red and Black up to 148bhp to play with. When the Fiesta Red and Black models were released, both variants benefited from extra modifications to handle the extra power. We expect the Focus Black and Red Editions to come with stiffer, lower suspension and quicker steering to enliven the handling, and shorter gear ratios to give more rapid acceleration. The sporty feel of the car is also designed not to come at too great a cost, either to the environment or your pocket; efficiency is optimised to reduce fuel consumption whether you opt for petrol or diesel power.
The Black and Red Editions are based on the trim level of the Zetec S variant of the standard Focus. Fitted with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable journey, the Zetec S features Bluetooth® and a DAB radio which are controlled intuitively from a 4.2-inch colour screen. The new editions are anticipated to match this, including the wide range of excellent safety systems that won the standard Focus a five-star rating and four Advanced Safety Rewards from Euro NCAP.
The new editions will be in showrooms later this year and you will be able to view and drive the Focus Black and Red at the Edinburgh and Liverpool branches of Peoples Ford. We will keep you up-to-date with the latest information as it is released, so please browse the website and check back regularly for current news.
