Ford’s new global design language is making its debut at Frankfurt this month in the form of the new Ford Evos, a car that is exploring future powertrain and vehicle technologies.

The Evos concept delivers a dynamic driving experience by connecting to, and using information from, the cloud as well as building an understanding of preferences and driving habits. As such, it is able to adapt handling, steering and engine controls to provide a personalised experience.

As part of the customisation, the car could automatically resume music that the driver was listening to a home, or adjust the interior to be the driver’s ideal temperature. Additionally, wireless communication could enable the concept to close garage doors or switch off house lights as it pulls away.

On top of all this, driver wellness technology has been implemented and includes a heart-rate monitoring seat, a certified allergy-free interior and a system that suggests a healthier route to the destination. Through its connection to the cloud, the Evos can also monitor the driver’s physical state and workload and adapt the experience it provides accordingly.

The Ford Evos concept is powered by a lithium-ion plug-in hybrid powertrain, which delivers the same performance as the forthcoming Ford C-MAX Energi, which is due to make its European debut in 2013. The exterior styling is bold and muscular and features a dramatic roofline, while inside, it has clean, simple design with a curvaceous cockpit display surface. Both driver and passengers are able to interact with the car and can adjust their seats via touch screen displays.
