Ford are introducing a new feature that is purely designed to prevent scratches and dents as a result of opening car doors against solid objects such as walls, buildings and other cars. The UK is the home of tight, narrow parking spaces and with more and more car parks needing to be built to cater for the amount of cars in the UK, developers need to cram as many parking spaces into car parks as possible. As a result of this, there is going to be an increase in damage to car doors as a result of opening against another car when getting out of the car.

The door protector is going to make its debut on the new Ford Focus in 2012 and works automatically when the door is opened, so that it offers immediate protection against scratching and denting car doors. Dent repairs can only be carried out by specially trained professional dent repair people and will cost in the region of £250 and even then the dent is not guaranteed to be removed. The first thing that people look out for when buying a car is any dents and if there are dents and scratches on your car then you are more or less not going to make a sale.

According to Ford product engineers, this new feature is going to be one that new customers are going to ask the question “Why didn’t car manufacturers think of this before?” Questions are already being asked with regards to the robustness of the device. The answer is that it is unlikely to break unless it is physically broken off using force. The door protection device opens into its position when the door gap is less than 15cm and is designed to retract in only 60 milliseconds to allow for doors to be slammed shut and there is also a mechanism that prevents the door protector from being damaged if it hits an obstruction.

Peoples currently have a range of hot deals on new Ford’s such as the new Ford C-Max on the road from £13,995. For more information, contact us by phone or submit your details on the form below.
