Ford is proud to present its low carbon fuelled ECOnetic models. Since January 2011 these new eco-friendly models fall within the threshold for the Congestion Charge discount. Many major cities within the UK including London operate a congestion charging system for vehicles entering city centres.

As of Tuesday 4th of January 2011, the 100% green discount known as the ‘GVD’ is available for cars fitted with ECOnetic Technologies. This means that the Congestion Charge for vehicles with CO2 emissions of 100/km or less, that also meet the standard Euro 5 for air quality will be able to enter London free of charge- apart from a registration fee of just £10.00 a year, per vehicle.

There are two new models from the Ford family due to be released later this year that use low emissions ECOnetic Technologies as well as falling within the Euro 5 restrictions for air quality. The new Ford Fiesta and Fiesta Van ECOnetic models both emit just 98g/km CO2, falling just under the greener output threshold imposed by individual city groups.

Ford customers can do their bit for the environment as well as receive a Congestion Charge discount if it applies.

The popular automaker also has the exciting and much anticipated new release of a zero-emission Transit Connect Electric van, and the new Ford Focus Electric, which are due for release in 2012, which also happens to be the year the Congestion Charge Exemption criteria is due to be reviewed.
