Tyres are the most important part of your car’s safety equipment – they are literally the only thing keeping you on the road!
Regularly checking tyre pressure is essential as it will improve grip, fuel economy, braking and the life of your tyres. Many people ask us why they don't get the same fuel economy as the Government figures specify. Well, if you ensure your tyres are at the right pressure, this will help dramatically.
You can find the correct pressure setting on your Ford by looking at the bottom of the door pillar:-

When you are checking your Ford tyre pressures, run your hand over the tyre and feel for the types of wear below. This will help you prevent premature wear and increase your safety and economy.
Checking your tread:-

Many people find it confusing as to how much tread they need. The legal limit is 1.6mm. Remember that at this point the tyre is 100% worn! Most of the Emergency Services replace their tyres at 3mm. This is the minimum tread level required to grip in snow and the tyre is also 78% worn at this point. The following table will give you a guide to how worn your tyres are.
