Hosted by Glasgow Life & proudly sponsored by Peoples Ford, the Parkinson's Walking Football Festival is back at Toryglen Regional Football Centre, Glasgow. The European capital of sport is welcoming 12 different teams from across both Scotland & England to the city of Glasgow to compete against each other and raise awareness of Parkinson's. Here at Peoples Ford, we are absolutely delighted and honoured to sponsor such a terrific event, furthermore, we are thrilled to do so in association with Parkinson's UK, Celtic FC Foundation & Motability.
The festival is truly a tremendous occasion for all involved and all those who come along to cheer on the teams. Currently in the UK, over 150,000 people are living with Parkinson's. We hope to raise as much awareness of the condition as possible and encourage those with and without the condition to get active, interact with others in the community, and have some fun while they're at it!

Walking Football & Parkinson's
Participation in walking football has been growing rapidly over the last few years as the slowed down version of the beautiful game we all know and love becomes more and more popular. The sport provides a brilliant opportunity for everyone to get involved and enjoy the national sport. It can also provide those who have given up playing, whether that is due to age or injury, a chance to get back playing and enjoying the sport of football once again.
Walking football is known to have several benefits to those who participate, including helping with social isolation, building community cohesion and a whole range of physical benefits such as improved heart function. However, the sport can also be massively beneficial to those with Parkinson's. Playing walking football has proven to help people with Parkinson's manager their symptoms, improve strength, co-ordination, balance and mobility. Playing can also help to improve & maintain muscle mass & mental stimulation, which can prove effective in slowing the progression of Parkinson's.
