Continued developments in design and engineering by Ford are shown in the awards the manufacturer won throughout 2015.
One of the biggest achievements was the introduction of the pioneering 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. The power system was yet again named International Engine of the Year for 2015, the fourth year in a row. A panel of 87 judges from 35 countries agreed that the engine should be the winner.
Over four years, the EcoBoost has claimed a total of eight awards. It is the only engine to have taken the international award three times.
Ford vans also made a strong showing. Just as in 2014, the new Transit was awarded Van of the Year. Auto Express gave the title to a Transit van for a third consecutive year, having previously bestowed the same honour on the Transit Custom.
The win was considered a 'birthday' award, as 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the original Transit van. The new-generation model's accomplishments follow those of the previous Transit, which received the same award in 2013.
