A Personal Contract Purchase is usually broken up into 3 sections. The first is a deposit. This is then followed by a series of fixed monthly instalments before you have the option to make a final payment (sometimes called a balloon payment) at the end in order to keep the vehicle. Consumers have the choice of returning the car, paying the final payment (which is dependent on resale value) or putting that resale value towards a new vehicle.
This option is generally better for people who like to change their car regularly.
Hire Purchase is a plan where you usually pay a deposit, and then pay off the total vehicle value in monthly instalments. Once you have made your last payment, the vehicle is yours.
This option is generally better for somebody who wants to own the vehicle at the end of the agreement and can afford to pay more per month. If you don't have a high credit score, a hire purchase agreement may be easier to obtain as the car is used as collateral for the loan.

You may still be able to get finance even if you have a bad credit score. However, the value of car you're able to buy may be lower than if you have a good or excellent credit score.
APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is a rate officially used to help you understand the cost of borrowing. The interest rate and any additional charges are factored into the APR rate. Before you sign any credit agreement, all lenders must tell you what the APR is for the deal you're applying for.
A soft credit check is an initial look at certain information on your credit report. Companies perform soft searches to decide how successful your application would be without conducting a full examination of your credit history.
A hard credit check happens when a company makes a complete search of your credit report. Each hard check is recorded on your report, so any company searching it will be able to see that you’ve applied for credit.
