A day out with Emma

This past weekend was a little different to what I’ve been used to lately. And that’s because we actually left the house and went a short journey in the car. What made it even better was that the sun was shining. The perfect weather for a scenic drive.

After five months of shielding at home due to the coronavirus pandemic and being in the high-risk group, we were finally free to go. It was a strange feeling, but also nice to be hitting the open road again.

Windows down and feeling the cool air conditioning with nothing but clear blue skies. What more could we ask for after the lengthy lockdown?

We didn’t want to venture too far from home or go somewhere crowded with people. So we enjoyed a beautiful picturesque drive which led us to the Carron Valley Reservoir. It is only around 30 minutes from home and provides a peaceful drive through the winding country roads. Some of the roads are single track, but there are plenty of passing places to pull in.

The Carron Valley Reservoir is a very cool spot. The reservoir is an impressive structure amongst a vast array of thick tree packed wilderness. It’s also amazing for cycling, sports and there are plenty of paths suitable for wheelchairs too.

There is a pay and display car park, but it was busy so we decided to drive past it and stop further along next to the reservoir. We parked up and got out of the car to enjoy the sunshine.

I’m so glad we did as we were able to take in more of the beautiful surroundings and perfectly still glass-like water reflecting the clear blue sky with a few scattered fluffy white cloud. All we could see was water and tree-lined hills. I loved how tranquil and magical it was.

It was the perfect way to enjoy our first proper day out in our Ford Tourneo Connect WAV since the beginning of March. It certainly lifted our spirits. Not only that, but it made us feel refreshed after being at home for months without being able to get out and about, which is quite strange for us due to the amount of travelling and road trips we normally do week to week.

Our drive to Carron Valley Reservoir was short, but a brilliant first trip out together and in the beautiful Scottish sunshine to top it off.

It’s days like this that make me appreciate having my WAV and the freedom it gives us to visit places both near and far to home. I’m already looking forward to our next day out in the car and when we can begin to enjoy road trips away from home again.
