Peoples Ford Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band - World Champions 2023

Congratulations to our World Pipe Band Champions 2023 - Peoples Ford Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band, their first ever Worlds win!

For over 40 years Peoples Ford have been supporting numerous local community organisations, and we are absolutely thrilled that one of our more notable partners, The Peoples Ford Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band, have managed to be crowned Pipe Band World Champions for 2023. Peoples Ford chairman Brian Gilda was there on the day to support the band and celebrate the fantastic achievement with them. This was a significant day for the relationship between Brian and the band as this is a relationship that spans right back to day one for Peoples Ford, when the band themselves played at the official opening of our very first dealership in Bathgate in 1983.

It was the long-established Scottish pipe band’s first-ever World Champions title. They managed to fend off stiff competition from runners-up, and 2022 champions, Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band of Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Last year’s runners up, Inveraray and District Pipe Band, finished in third place. The achievement of World Champions is truly an incredible feat as the competition was fierce with bands travelling from all across the world to go head-to-head at Glasgow Green for a chance to be named the very best. The championships seen bands from Australia, Israel, Zimbabwe and more descend on Glasgow Green to show off their skills and they were all absolutely fantastic and a true credit to the competition.

The reason everyone here at Peoples Ford is so proud of this accomplishment as it stands as a great symbol of why we continue to ensure we have a deep-rooted connection with the community. The band help hundreds of young people every year by schooling them in the art of pipes & drums, so to see these young men & women develop into World Champions reminds us all of why we make it our mission to support community organisations like the band. Helping elevate organisations within the community to these heights will always be a priority of Peoples Ford and the same value the business was born out of back in 1983.

The band and Peoples Ford special relationship will always hold strong, and the band were delighted to have chairman Brian Gilda along on the day: "We were delighted that the Chairman of Peoples Ford, Brian Gilda, was there on Saturday to support the band and carry the RSPBA Jubilee Trophy off the park in front of the band. We also couldn’t have done it without their unwavering support."

We were so proud to see all the hard work the band do pay off, and our chairman Brian was able to join them in celebrations. Check out the gallery of images below!
