Meet the Team!

Meet Logan who joined the business in 2018!

Why did you choose an apprenticeship with Peoples?

A: I was originally doing a course via Edinburgh college but it was much more classroom based and very little chance for any practical work or experience which I really wanted. I’d heard good things about the Apprenticeship programme via Peoples and SkillNet so I applied and got the job.

What did your apprenticeship involve?

A: A bit of everything. You started by learning the basics in the workshop and were given a Technician to buddy up with and shadow so you were learning from great people. You cover everything, so MOTs, Servicing, Brakes and Engine jobs are just some of the skills you learn. On my third year I got my own ramp which I loved.

What did you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

A: Definitely the team and the environment in the workshop. The team have so much knowledge and some have worked here for years so they can help with even the most complex or unique issues. They never once made me feel silly if I didn’t know something and were happy to answer any questions or help. They supported me throughout and gave me the chance to put my learnings into practice.

Meet Tylor who joined the business in 2019!

Why did you choose an apprenticeship with Peoples?

A: My dad was a mechanic so I have always had a genuine interest in cars from a young age. I always wanted to do something that was hands on so when I saw the role advertised with Peoples I knew it was something I would like.

What did your apprenticeship involve?

A: It’s a mixture of college blocks where you learn from the trainers at Henry Ford Academy and then you take that learning back to the workshop and start to put it into practice. You get regular visits from your Assessor and you are buddied up with different members of the Peoples team so that you learn a range of skills.

What did you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

A: I loved it when I got my own ramp. My favourite part was the hands on learning and being paired with People that would let you learn on the job at your pace. I loved learning how to complete engine jobs and now that I have completed my apprenticeship I get to work on them every day. Would recommend the programme.
