Eligibility for the Motability Scheme

Motability from Peoples Ford - Motability Dealer in Scotland and Liverpool

Peoples Ford has been helping disabled drivers gain independence with a perfectly-adapted car for years. Most of our customers looking for a specific Mobility car come to us through the Motability scheme which provides a car or scooter in exchange for your Mobility allowance.

The scheme helps around 650,000 of people every year and has been doing so since the late 1970s.

The following allowances make you eligible for the scheme:

• The Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
• The Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HMRC DLA)
• The War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
• The Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

Here's a handy eligibility tool on the Motability website which also might help.

Anyone legally allowed to drive on the scheme can drive a Motability car with some limits to people with driving convictions. You can have up to two named drivers on the insurance, as long as at least one of you is over 21. If you would like a car with more than 115bhp, like the Kuga and EcoSport, one of the drivers has to be over 25.

The friendly and helpful team at Peoples Ford is here to help you get a Motability car if you’re eligible for the scheme. We can also advise you how to find out if you are eligible for the scheme and how to apply.

Contact us over the phone, get in touch online or come along to the showroom to discuss the Motability scheme with an expert.
