What Is the Motability Scheme?

Motability Vehicles from Peoples Ford - Motability Dealer Across Scotland and Liverpool

The Motability scheme began in 1978. It helps people with disabilities enjoy more independence in getting around by providing a wide range of high-quality, adapted cars. Ford was one of the main car manufacturers to become involved in the scheme, producing affordable, reliable cars that are safe and comfortable to drive for hundreds of drivers.

By using your Mobility Allowance on the scheme, you can get a car that is perfectly adapted to suit you and your needs. Most adaptations are free, which include stowage, driving and access modifications, depending on what would work best for you. The Motability scheme builds in insurance for up to two named drivers and maintenance and services on your vehicle. Accident and breakdown cover is also included, providing stress-free driving and peace of mind.

If you find a car that costs more than your Mobility Allowance, you can still obtain the model by simply paying the excess. You can choose from many different models on the Motability scheme, including SUVs, convertibles, and family cars. Ford Motability includes a range of popular models such as the KA+, Focus, New Kuga and EcoSport.

Different drivers are eligible for the Motability scheme. Read our section on Eligibility to find out if you qualify, or contact Peoples Ford for more information.
